Sunday evening, Chicago Bear received potentially encouraging news on the injury front. At the end of the game against the Detroit Lions, David Montgomery went down and writhed in pain. He then went to the locker room with the track coach, treating a significant lameness. However, soon after, the Bears public relations team reported that Montgomery had a knee injury.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Bears and Montgomery could have avoided a serious injury. As it stands, based on early testing, it appears Montgomery suffered from knee hyperextension. However, this has yet to be confirmed by an MRI, which the third-year running back will have on Monday.
This probably explains the tweet Montgomery sent immediately after the game.
For now, everyone can breathe a sign of relief, including the Bears and David Montgomery.
