Minot State scored two Sofia Lewis goals in a 3-0 shutout win over Upper Iowa on Sunday afternoon at Herb Parker Stadium. The victory improved the Beavers to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the NSIC game.

The Beavers opened the scoring when Lewis scored his seventh goal of the season in the sixth minute, assisted by Sofia Galvez.

Only five minutes after the start of the second half, the Beavers took the lead 2-0 on a goal from Chloe Allen, her fifth goal of the season, again assisted by Galvez.

MSU took a 3-0 lead over Lewis’ goal in the 86th minute, their seventh of the season to put the Peacocks on the sidelines and secure the win.

Maddie Kindred, who ended the weekend without allowing a goal in both games, made four saves for the Beavers on a total of eight shots for the Peacocks. Meanwhile, the MSU offensive totaled four shots on goal.

The Beavers remain atop the NSIC standings being the only team not to lose or tie a game in conference action so far. Next, MSU will prepare for the reunion weekend with a duel against the Northern State Wolves (4-3-1, 3-2-1 NSIC) on Friday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. The Beavers will conclude the reunion weekend with a clash against the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons (0-9, 0-6 NSIC) scheduled for Sunday, October 10. The kickoff of this match is scheduled for noon.
