Moscow November 29 INTERFAX.RU – The current year should occupy fourth place in the list of the hottest meteorological observations in all history, announced Thursday the report of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The report indicates that the global average temperature during the first 10 months of 2018 exceeded by nearly 1 degree the temperature of the preindustrial level (from 1850 to 1900).

20 of the hottest years are in the last 22 years of meteorological observations.

I would like to repeat once again that we are the first generation to have fully understood the seriousness of climate change and the last generation to be able to undertake all measures to combat this.

Petteri Taalas

Head of the UN WMO

The year 2017 has also become one of the hottest, with record levels of extreme weather. Then, the average global temperature from January to September 2017 was about 1.1 degrees Celsius higher than that of the pre – industrial era.

In November of this year, WMO issued another report indicating that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere had reached a critical point. The high content of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is one of the main reasons for the increase in the average temperature of the planet.
