Vitebsk lives on July 15 not only with the concerts of the Slavic bazaar, but also with sports. In the center of the city there was the "Slav race", which for the first time included a half-marathon and gathered more than 3,000 participants. Among them were local athletes and runners from different cities in Belarus and Russia. The organizer of the sports event is the Belarusian Federation of Athletics.
The festival of the arts festival takes place in Vitebsk for the third time. In 2016, the race was 4 km and 8 km, in one year – 3 km and 9.5 km. This time – 300 meters (for children 5-8 years), 3.3 km (9 years and over), 10 km (12 years and over) and 21.1 km (15 years and over). the leader of the participants of the race was greeted by the president of the regional executive committee Nikolai Sherstnev
– Each year the race grows to a thousand participants – this year there are more than 3 thousand. I hope that next year this number will double. Will forces to you, easy kilometers, patience and victories, – the governor wished.
Most participants registered at 3.3 km. But the races on 10 km and 21.1 km were also pretty mbadive. Some have fled in unusual costumes (for example, a clown) or in embroidered dresses. Runners at all distances started and finished at Victory Square. The 10 km road looked like this: Moskovsky Prospekt – Beloborodov Avenue (up to the intersection with Herzen Street) – Moskovsky Prospekt (before VSU) – Pobedy Avenue (before crossing with Builders Avenue and back) – Moskovsky Prospect (before crossing with Brovka Street, then on the other side of the highway) – Smolenskaya street (before crossing with Pravda street and back) – Moskovsky Prospekt. By the way, this itinerary looks like a cross on the map.
In the current "Slave Race" team "Wings of Angels" adult runners and disabled children. In order to be able to get comfortable from Minsk to Vitebsk, the Belarussian railways have allocated an extra specially equipped car. Vitebsk participants from "Wings of Angels" also fled.
Five children in wheelchairs, young people with autism, accompanied by volunteers, chose different distances: from 3.3 to 21.1 km.
