Nearly 50 Russian citizens traveling to Kiev via Minsk were sent back to the Belarusian capital because Ukrainian border guards had not let them pbad. TUT.BY information has been confirmed by the Belarusian Border Committee.
According to Russian "Izvestia" on Monday night, Ukrainian border guards did not allow about 30 Russians to enter the country, arrived in Kiev (Zhuliany airport) by flights from Belavia. The airline was supposed to send the Russians back to Minsk on the first flight.
In a conversation with TUT.BY, the Belarusian State Border Committee confirms information about the return of some Russians.
– Since yesterday, nearly fifty people have returned to Minsk. This affected four Belavia flights: three yesterday and one more today. The most important group has come back today. If 12 people returned yesterday, today – 35, – said the official representative of the State Borders Committee Anton Bychkovsky.
The representative of the State Border Committee notes that the Belarusian border guards had no questions to ask all these Russians at the time of departure.
– We issued them in the established order, they departed by flights to Ukraine, and then returned because of the non-admission of the neighboring country. The reason not to pbad is not called. Anton Bychkovsky has not received any information from the Ukrainian Border Service on the change of border crossing procedure by foreign citizens, including the Russian Federation.
Note that they use the Minsk Airport in transit for flights to Ukraine, including pbadengers of the Ukrainian airline "MAU". According to the Belarusian Border Committee, citizens of the Russian Federation were not repatriated to Minsk by these flights.
Russia and Ukraine stopped direct flights between countries on October 25, 2015. Since then, citizens of both countries have been forced to travel in transit, via other states, often via Minsk.
