On December 2 in Minsk will take place the half-marathon mittens with fusion distance. The goal of the charity race is to raise funds for the work of the Wings of Angels Sports Club, which brings together families with children with disabilities and sports volunteers.
The race starts at 11:00 am from the porch of the Minsk City Culture Palace (129 Mayakovsky Street).
"This is Varevkovy's second half-marathon with a fusion distance," explain the organizers. – The first was adopted a year ago and started with a bag of multicolored mittens, which were presented to us by entrepreneurs from the Zhdanovichi market. The mittens then replaced the finisher's medals: each rider received a pair of mittens that he loved as a gift. We then proposed a fusion distance to combine strong athletes and beginners in one race. This time, there will be no multicolored mittens, but the theme of the race will be revealed in another way.
What is the principle of fusion distance? Participants run in a straight line, turn around and return to the finish line on the same course. The beginning is common, but the competition for leadership only lasts until the turn. Whoever reaches it first takes the mitten of the leader and returns at the beginning of the race. It turns out that now he is running towards the other participants – and as soon as they meet the leader with a mitt, they have to turn around and also run towards the finish line. Thus, only one participant, the fastest, will overcome the whole distance. And the last runner will run about 8 km.
