In the current scenario, Petro Poroshenko has no chance of winning the presidential elections in Ukraine and even going to the second round. A provocation was therefore applied in the Kerch Strait. About this after the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk, said Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
– I can say what I think of this situation. And I think I'm pretty simple: some Ukrainian badysts warned a year ago [о возможных событиях]taking into account the evolution of the electoral process in Ukraine. Obviously, the current President Poroshenko, in the current scenario, has no chance of winning the election and even perhaps no chance of reaching the second round. And in order to make some favorable political decisions to the incumbent president, this provocation was probably undertaken (in the sea of Azov – Approx TUT.BY). The result is the introduction of martial law, which allows the current government to play at least a little more, to increase the support of the population – this is one of the possible options, and perhaps the option the most effective has been envisaged – to simply abandon the elections for which Ukrainian badysts warned a year ago – said Dmitry Medvedev.
The Russian Prime Minister also drew attention to the reaction of the Ukrainian establishment, Ukrainian politicians and former Ukrainian presidents, who asked why, in much more difficult situations in which the Ukraine had fallen, martial law was not imposed and that the incident had been used as a basis for the introduction of such a provision.
– The answer is also perfectly understandable: it is about politics, it is about electoral technologies, about political technologies. This is how it is perceived in Ukraine itself and, in any case, that is how I perceive it. Obviously, this is an additional complication for ongoing processes in Ukraine. This will create or could create serious problems for the Ukrainian economy, which, of course, will not improve relations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, said Dmitry Medvedev.
