The fact that Semyon Berezhnoy "left" by sentence, he became known to the mother of the convict. This information was reported to TUT.BY by the coordinator of the campaign "Defenders of Human Rights Against the Death Penalty", Andrei Poluda.

When the execution took place is still unknown. It usually takes a while to issue a death certificate. The other day, the family received the last letter from the man.

In addition to Berezhnoy, Igor Gershankov, 36, was sentenced for "black real estate agents". We do not know anything about his destiny, the letters have not arrived for a month. Relatives planned to visit a man this week.

Previously, appeals on behalf of two convicted persons were registered with the United Nations Human Rights Committee. According to the rules, while the examination is in progress, the sentence should not be executed, but Belarus does not generally respect this principle.

Recall that from 2009 to 2015, in the region of Mogilev, six people disappeared without a trace. The bodies were then discovered: they were buried in anonymous graves in rural cemeteries. In life, they were single people who were addicted to alcohol or who had debts for a collective flat.

According to the prosecution, it was precisely these groups of "black realtors" who were looking for (altogether four people). They persuaded people to sell or exchange homes, and then they killed. Some were buried alive while the victims slept under the influence of vodka and clonidine.

Gershankova and Berezhnoy were convicted of six murders and the preparation of another, kidnappings, frauds and other crimes. In addition, Igor Gershankov had already been found guilty of housing fraud.

In the summer of 2017, the Mogilev Regional Court sentenced men to death. Their property is liable to confiscation and, in favor of the relatives of those killed, they will seek compensation of about $ 110,000. The defendants appealed the verdict, but in December the Supreme Court left it unchanged.

In court, the men claimed that the testimony was forcibly beaten. In August, Igor Gershankov went on a hunger strike. According to this man, his numerous complaints to several authorities did not release him from the detention center.
