France will start delivering prescription condoms

All French citizens will be able to get condoms free of charge on the order of the doctor. This was reported to France Inter radio by the country's health minister, Agnès Buzin.

As Buzen has said, as of December 10, the French will be able to receive packets of 6, 12 or 24 condoms, on prescription from a doctor or midwife.

The cost of buying contraceptives will be borne by the state.

According to the minister, this measure aims to combat the spread of badually transmitted diseases (including AIDS).
