The Main Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow has prepared applications to the court to extend the detention period of football players Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev. This writes "Rosbalt" in reference to a source in law enforcement
organs.
According to him, the investigation will ask the court to leave the athletes in prison until 8 February 2019. The reason will be incomplete examinations, as well as "the relations of football players in various government agencies".
Petitions will be tabled on November 30 or December 3. If the court approves the petitions, Kokorin and Mamaev will celebrate the New Year at "Butyrka".
The athletes were detained as persons involved in three criminal cases under the articles "hooliganism" and "battery". The detention of football players expires on December 8th. On 19 October, the courts dismissed Mamayev's and Kokorin's defense's appeals to change the restraint order, but the lawyers said they would continue to demand a measure of restraint not related to imprisonment.
On October 8, footballers became the instigators of two fights in Moscow. They first defeated TV presenter Olga Ushakova, then attacked Denis Pak, head of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and Sergey Gaysin, director general of the FSUE "NAMI".
