The Belarussian side does not want external actors to make emotional statements, which will only increase the tension in the situation in the Kerch Strait. On this point, answering the question of journalists, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Foreign Minister, what is happening today in this region – in the Kerch Strait area – confirms the relevance and realism of the warnings that the Belarussian head of state has repeatedly stated that the world was gradually sliding into the abyss of a great conflict.
– How do we perceive this? You know, we are very close. And we feel indirectly and directly the results, the consequences of this confrontation. Therefore, of course, we do not want any other measure that could lead to further escalation of tensions in our region, "said Makei.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Belarus is convinced that the parties to the conflict understand that they are responsible for the situation in the region and regional security.
– I would not want to see some emotional statements from external actors, which will ultimately lead only to a further increase in tension. Belarus is ready to contribute, if it is acceptable to the political actors concerned, to resolve the situation and defuse the tension unfortunately prevailing in our region today, "said Makei.
Vladimir Makei also explained that the President of Belarus had not contacted Petro Poroshenko directly after the situation in the Kerch Strait.
– We followed the statements made by both sides. But there was no direct contact. Of course, it would be important for us to receive objective information from both sides in order to have our real badysis of the situation related to this incident, explained the minister.
The Foreign Minister also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs planned to develop recommendations for Belarusians during his visit to Ukraine, in connection with the introduction of martial law.
– We always have only the information we received from the media regarding the introduction of martial law. The Belarusian Embbady in Ukraine has received instructions regarding the clarification of all the consequences badociated with the introduction of martial law in Ukraine. Of course, we will develop appropriate recommendations for our citizens, based on an badysis of all information received. You have heard the statement of the Ambbadador of Ukraine in Belarus that no restrictions are imposed on travel by Belarusian citizens, "said Makei.
The minister also expressed the hope that this situation would have no negative consequences for trade, economic and humanitarian contacts and relations between Belarus and Ukraine.
Conflict in the Kerch Strait
On November 25, the Russian FSB reported that border guards had used weapons against Ukrainian warships Berdyansk, Nikopol and Yana Kapu, allegedly violating the state border. The Ukrainian side announced an act of aggression on the part of Russia.
According to Ukraine, six sailors were injured, the Russian side talks about three Ukrainian soldiers injured during the conflict, they are in the hospital.
The President of Ukraine called on the leaders of the Russian Federation to demand the release of Ukrainian seamen and ships. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the incident in the sea of Azov was a provocation on the side of Ukraine. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Petro Poroshenko, in the current scenario, has no chance of winning the presidential elections in Ukraine or even qualifying for the second round. A provocation was therefore applied in the Kerch Strait. Vladimir Putin also called the actions of Ukraine provocation related to the upcoming presidential elections.
On November 26, the Verkhovna Rada supported the introduction of martial law in Ukraine. The President of the country, Petro Poroshenko, was at the origin of these measures.
On 28 November, all sailors arrested following the incident in the Kerch Strait on 26 November were arrested in Crimea. For two months, 24 people were arrested.
On November 29, Poroshenko called on NATO countries to send ships to the sea of Azov.
