The legendary Belarusian tennis player Maxim Mirny has announced his retirement. He said this in an open letter on the website of the Belarusian Tennis Federation.
– I want to announce today that I decided that 2018 was my last season in a professional career.
It was a difficult decision for me since tennis has been my life since my early childhood. I am happy to have enjoyed this game for so long!
Speaking at personal tournaments, or playing for a country, I have always treated my profession with a high degree of honor and respect, I have always worked with dedication and that is why I left the game without any regrets and only positive! I managed to do a lot more, which the kid from Minsk, in Belarus, could have dreamed, after picking up a racket.
My long journey would have been impossible without the constant support of my family. I will remain forever indebted to my parents who, from an early age, raised me in the best sports traditions and taught life. Early on, my father became a key figure in my career, moving with me to all levels of development as a coach, manager and friend. My wife and children have always provided incredible support and have inspired me a lot to go forward.
In addition, I had the chance to work with great specialists who
helped develop athletic and human qualities. Then I would like to mention a lot of them, showing again my confession and my love.
The coaches of my children, Valery Lavrenov and Arkady Edelman, from the sports school of Minsk Automobile Factory … Thank you for the foundation and the love you have inspired me for tennis.
Mr. Nick Bollettieri, your family and your staff. Thank you for the comfort you have created outside your home at IMG Tennis Academy in Florida. Because you, Nick, believed in me when victories were rare and hard to get. For the fact that to date, you are an example to me in my development as a tennis specialist and honest person.
Alexander Dolgopolov (senior). Thank you for letting me be part of your family and all your efforts to prepare for this very expensive job physically and life in general on the circuit. I have learned a lot from you, which has allowed me to flourish many times in the most difficult situations of my career. The time your wife spent stretching with me sowed a very important seed in my mind. Thanks to this, I managed to take this long road avoiding serious injuries.
Bob Bratt, thank you for always having me open and for giving me valuable advice. You were at the origin of my knowledge of Nike Tennis, with which I collaborated throughout my career.
Fritz Don, the most positive and optimistic person with whom I am familiar! You have discovered a different vision of preparation. Your methods are unique. Clbades with you have always been a pleasure.
Bryan Ticher, with you, I began to better understand the biomechanics of tennis. Your yoga workout contributes to my balance so far, both on the field and on the outside.
David Skat, I am grateful for your help during the difficult transition from my 1st career to 2nd (just a pair). Your endless exploration and study of the rivals, your knowledge of the game and your help out of the field have allowed me to win another victory in the most prestigious tournaments, which has given me confidence and optimism for extend career number 2.
Pyotr Mirny, you 've always pushed me with an excellent mood and a fraternal love during this period when more and more defeats flew into my stats and it was easier to hang my nose and m'. stop long. We did not do it, but we had some very brilliant and memorable moments at the end of our "song".
My physical trainers are Antoni Blair and Yutaka Nakamura. At various stages of my athletic development, you have paid attention to the most important aspects of working with my large body. With your help, I have always felt superior to my rivals on the field and I certainly have not lost a match due to poor physical training.
My medical team, who has always helped me stay healthy and perform at the highest level. At different times, each of you has played an important role in my longevity in the sport. Igor Golovnev, Pavel Malashevich, Alexander Razumets and Ivan Bury – sports doctors and physiotherapists of the Belarusian team.
I wish to mention the Belarusian Tennis Federation and its leaders at different times – Semyon Kagan, Mikhail Pavlov, Vladimir Peftiev, Alexander Shakutin and Sergey Teterin – and thank you for believing in me …
Ministry of Sports and Tourism, thank you for your attention and for giving me the opportunity to represent our country during these 25 years. It has been a great honor and a pleasure to do so all over the world. Being the flag bearer of our team and placing the gold medal at the treasure of the national team at the London Olympics will always be the most important achievement of my career.
Thanks to ATP and your staff. You have created for us an exceptional workplace. Through the Tour, I visited places where I would never be in life.
Your care and advice were felt daily.
ITF – thank you for letting me take part in your historic tournaments and share with you the highlights of my career.

I especially want to mention all my 100 (!) Duplicate partners, from 1994 to 2018. With each of you, I have something to remember and tell, each of you has helped me put a brick, big or small, and build my huge career wall. Thanks again guys!
Hi down to all the media representatives who covered my sporting life. Thank you for your work … You have always been indulgent, patient and correct.
In conclusion, I would like to once again thank and embrace all my fans and those whom I forgot to mention personally in the heat of the moment – you have sent me your love and support. You rejoiced with me, you won and you also raised me in different parts of the world, when the band of light became dark. … You have given me the strength and motivation to wake up and continue working. I will always remember the kindness and responsibility of speaking in front of you, whether on the training field or in the marked stands.
In the future, it is time to change and take on new challenges. Of course, I will miss the game and the rivalry, but I will always keep a close eye on tennis and enjoy my favorite job next to the court, "Maxim Mirny wrote.
