The Ministry of Culture has appealed to the Executive Committee of the City of Brest on the need to dismantle banners and Soviet inscriptions placed without authorization on the facades of the heritage sites of the fortress of Brest. The restored inscriptions with quotes from Soviet politicians and banners depicting soldiers of the Great Patriotic War were placed on the barracks building on the territory of the Kobrin fortress of the fortress of Brest next to the patriotic center of the youth open this summer.

The initiative has attracted the attention of the head of the campaign "For our city" Igor Maslovskywho sent an appeal to the Ministry of Culture with a request to understand the situation. In his letter, he indicated that a group of individuals were involved in the unauthorized reconstruction of buildings, inscribed facades, placed photographic equipment with their own faces and weapons that did not correspond to historical facts. in window openings, and felled trees and shrubs. In a response from the Ministry of Culture, received by the applicant on 27 November, it was stated that "to prevent violations of historical and cultural value, the Ministry of Culture had appealed to the Executive Committee of the City of Brest so that it is necessary to disbademble the banners and remove the inscriptions from the facades of heritage sites ".

In addition, the Regional Executive Committee is responsible for organizing the development of protocols on administrative offenses.

"According to the information provided to the Ministry of Culture by the Brest Regional Executive Committee, work on the drafting of protocols concerning the perpetrators of the offenses referred to in Article 19.2 of the Administrative Code (Non-compliance with security historical and cultural values) and (or) 19.3 (Disruption of the order and conditions of work) have already begun on historical and cultural values ​​or the execution of actions that threaten historical values and cultural), "he said in the reply.

Igor Maslovsky TUT.BY reported that the unauthorized restoration of inscriptions on the facades of the barracks is incorrect:

In conversation with TUT.BY, head of the Patriotic Youth Center Peter Pitsko He indicated that he did not wish to comment on the "illiterate" address of Igor Maslovsky, pointing out that in his letter to the Ministry of Culture, the activist had indicated that the inscriptions were applied to the objects of the memorial complex. Although in reality this is not the case.

In October, Pyotr Pitsko commented the location of the inscriptions on the barracks of the Kobrin fortification of the portal of Real Brest. He noted that he did not consider such actions vandalistic:

– Vandalism is the unauthorized application of something that did not exist before. It's a pity for the walls. In this place, we do not shoot anything new. Most of the time, these inscriptions appear after cleaning the walls – we clean them on the outside of the mushroom. We do not add anything new on our part.

Regarding the streamers, he said that, in this way, caring citizens decided to close the window openings

– We just did not want to mark with boards – so to speak – and completely disfigure the facades and disrupt the aesthetics of the fortress of Brest.
