Professional cybersporters have long been more successful than their mother's friends, but the narrow stereotype is not broken: young people waste the best years of computer games and win scoliosis until "normal people" are trained to become engineers-teachers. The Belarusian Pavaga Gaming team from Dota 2 invited Onliner to dispel the myths and show how the life of a cyber-sportsman really works. The guys are not shooting at a rich mansion, but are part of the Republican Center for Olympic Training in Rowing – all this is necessary for motivation, says Pavaga Gaming's founder.
Sports atmosphere
Alexander Molochnikov has always wanted to create a team of cyber-sports and the dream has finally come true. I found an investor who supported this idea and a professional Dota 2 team appeared in Belarus. The team rents several rooms and an "active" audience (equipped for e-sport training), then goes to the gym and the dining room. The resort staff are used to the players and do not react in any way to the youth, who did not come to rowing.
There are five players in Pavaga Gaming. They live in rooms of two, the captain – separately: it seems that this is the only privilege granted to the "principal", which allowed the team leader. Before our arrival, we expected to see a broken uniform, but everything was very strict: perfect order in the rooms, on the gaming tables – only a bottle of water, no fast food plates or cans of beer.
– Usually, in online games, team members sit at home and the fees are calculated so that the players are together and set up a common work to fix errors. The collection lasts 10 to 14 days and is already starting to run out. In addition, some players study at universities: if you can stay in agreement with teachers for a week or two and a half, skip over, that's too much. Although the key elements, of course, have always come out, – said Alexander.
8-12 hours to the computer every day
The boys' day starts around nine in the morning. Late, of course, but it's far from the stereotype "they play all night and then they sleep until five in the evening". After the ascent – compulsory training on treadmill or ellipsoid, where the guys travel a few kilometers. Why is there no strength training? Alexander intends to add them later: after all, people who do not practice sports continuously can endure intense stress.
After a workout – breakfast and free time, and around 10 in the morning, the guys sit on a comfortable chair and launch Dota 2. An important clarification, which seems obvious but is difficult to take for the average citizen – guys do not play for bullies, but develop tactical schemes, test hypotheses and tips tricks. In the first half of the day, Pavaga Gaming attendees prepare in-depth for evening practice: they dismantle their old matches and badyze mistakes, watch the video of their rivals, develop tactics and participate separately in matches. line.
Next – lunch and walk. Around four o'clock at night the main training begins, during which Pavaga Gaming tests his ideas. Here, we usually fight with other teams. Cybersports players play about five games a day. Around nine o'clock in the evening, the team discusses observations and observations. Before going to bed – walk again or watch a motivational movie: usually sports subjects because the spheres are still intersecting – there is a competitive spirit in football that takes place in a Dota or CS game: GO.
Prices can reach millions
What about Dota? Alexander compares the game with chess:
– The teams try to be wrong to choose the best heroes. Imagine that all the chess pieces are in the box and you only have to choose one, which will make movements. Someone will take a boat, it is more convenient to walk on horseback. It turns out that one figure can support another. In total, Dota 2 has more than a hundred heroes and each team must select the first five characters. Here, on the wall panel, we write tactical diagrams and general rules. What is "clicked / rejected"? So we respond to the demands of the players – so that the cybersportman does not answer "I can" or "do it" with other phrases, but gives a clear and quick answer: yes or no. It optimizes and speeds up team communication.
It seems like it's a small bust, but Pavaga Gaming makes a clear distinction between playing with friends only for hobbies and cyber-games, where it's all about big money – in this case, the attitude should be appropriate. For example, in one of the tournaments, the team earned about 80 thousand rubles. One of these days, she will participate in the qualifying round for "Minor" with a prize of $ 300,000. In addition, there are still "majors" (they are not successful players, but major championships) with a more substantial sum of one million dollars.
Well, in general, the overall goal of Pavaga Gaming is the primacy in the International. In terms of prestige, this can be compared to a win at the World Cup, only in the world of electronic sport. Hence the endowment fund of about 25 million dollars. It is clear that to achieve good results, cybersports must have a vigorous physical form. Therefore, even energy in the team has banned:
– Everything is entirely related to healthy lifestyles. For some reason, it is imposed on cybersports to sit in the energy sector, they say, it will help one way or another. We have a different approach: we allow maximum energy at the last hour of the 8-hour tournament, when you really need to cheer yourself up. But not in a normal workout situation. In general, a healthy lifestyle is a problem for a cyber-sportsman. We spend 8 to 12 hours sitting in front of a computer, sitting, fast food prevails, guys move a little. Therefore, at least at the training camp, we try to move the team.
Unpaid regular salary – as a national average
The career of an electronic sportsman is unpredictable, and there is not yet a great sample to divide in ascension, bloom and sunset: "There is no such thing as in ordinary sports, when parents bring the child by the hand to the workout and continue to walk from the children's team to the 39, junior team, and so on. A man introduces himself to electronic sport: he was noticed, offered to participate in the team – and ready. Often young people do not understand how to deal with the training, the other players – they need not only skills, but also psychological and physical form. The result is affected by all ".
The golden time of the cyber carrier comes around 18-22 years old, then the motivation falls, said Alexander. That is, most players are now academics and many of them are then badigned to professional reviewers and badysts.
It seems like big profits are only possible for world-clbad cybersports and not for anyone who can take you to Dota in every detail: "A good player in Belarus will generate income at the national average level. That is, if a person tries to get a decent result, she will provide at least a thousand rubles for herself. But the main motivation is the price money. In the CIS, people often beat big salaries and sit on them in the comfort zone. However, our situation is different – we focus on major victories. As an organizer, we withdraw a small part of the prize, the players sharing the rest. If they can show a good result, of course. "
The management of Pavaga Gaming focuses on the development of what trend makers, inflancers, opinion leaders and other people with a rich inner world are now called "personal brand". For example, a sports cybersport in his spare time not only plays, but broadcasts his match on Twitch and communicates with the audience, holds small contests, answers questions and so on. From this, the money will drain in the future.
Alexander responds to the thesis "eSport is not a sport": "Chess is also a sport. Here, the most important element is the competitive element. If we consider it mandatory for the concept of "sport", then we have absolutely everything to match. Look at what indicators for the audience when retransmitting major tournaments and what money turns out there. "
"Is a football player considered zadroty?"
Participants at Pavaga Gaming – Egor (18) and Maxim (23) have dispelled the myths about eSports.
– Dota is not tired yet? The card is always the same.
Yegor: It's annoying to play for ten hours, not in a team, but simply to be noticed and invited to your place. Constantly strangers, something can go wrong. And here we are all five good friends, we raise the team level of the game – it's a lot more interesting. In general, do not get tired of that.
Maxim: No, not tired. Each game is a new challenge. In football too, the pitch is still the same, but they have been playing for how many years. I absolutely love everything about Dota. If something does not work, it will not work.
– Does cybersport tell you something first? Earnings, career?
Yegor: In the first place – the desire to get good results. Next – communication with teammates, we are all good friends. Lastly, probably, the salary. I am still young, the money is not particularly necessary.
– What do parents say?
Maxim: At first, like everyone else, they said that it would be better to study and play sports. But I, by the way, have been playing football for a long time. When money started to appear through e-sports, parents did not ask much why I needed it.
– After five years, do you see in eSports?
Yegor: It depends on my development. If I see that I play better, then yes. And when I understand that the game is boring, then, most likely, no. Doing something without pleasure is bad.
Maxim: While I'm totally in eSport, and then – how's it going to happen. Today is here, tomorrow is here, what is there to fear? Nobody forces me to sit down and play. At this moment, I want to achieve maximum success in Dota and the overall goal of all cyber-athletes is to win the international.
– Does the stereotype "cybersportsman means zadrot" confirms?
Yegor: There are people who play and that's all. But you must realize something. And a professional must take care of himself, you are the face of your organization: you have to watch what you say and what you look like.
Maxim: If a person plays football and has a ball on goal in a few days, does he also consider it a zadrote? It's one thing when a person is sitting at a computer, spends time and does not know what they want. And when there is a goal, I take it as a job.
