Employees of Vitebskmyasomolprom OJSC, who have asked the president to return the director general Valery Kasperovich, arrested for corruption, continue to worry about his fate. He has been in prison for more than six months. After the news of the investigation into the criminal case of Andrei Golovach, chief engineer of the MZKT (he spent more than 4 years behind bars and was finally acquitted by the court yesterday), Vitebsk company employees are concerned that such a situation will not happen to their line manager. They again wrote a letter to the president asking them to determine the extent to which Valery Kasperovich's detention was justified. The letter was written on behalf of the staff of the company – and here, remember, about 600 people.
"Our leader, Valery Ivanovich Kasperovich, was arrested on 28 January 2019 by agents of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, suspected of receiving a bribe. At the beginning of April, we sent you an appeal on this issue. We stated that we did not believe this accusation and asked, while the investigation was underway, to bring the Director General back to work. The head of the presidential administration, Natalya Ivanovna Kochanova, told us during a phone conversation that you had examined our appeal. And, if our director was not caught red-handed while receiving a bribe, he will be released.
At the end of April, the Prosecutor General of Belarus, Alexander Konyuk, arrived at the OJSC of Vitebskmyasomolprom. He told the team that Valery Kasperovich would remain in detention. The Attorney General stated that there were enough reasons for this. He also said that in June a lawsuit in a criminal case against our director general should begin.
However, we are already in mid-August and our director is sitting behind bars in the isolation ward. We still do not believe in the guilt of our leader. Nobody told us and showed us that he had been arrested in flagrante delicto.
Valery Ivanovich has nothing of the wealth confiscated from corrupt cadres and shown on television. What can an official say if he finds a lot of money, cars, huge apartments, houses during a search? Our manager, unlike them, has nothing – only a loan contracted to buy his first car.
And I would also like to ask: who will badess the damage done to the state because of the absence of our CEO at the workplace? And will not there be a case like that of Andrei Golovach, who spent more than four years in the Corrections Remand Center, while the investigation was ongoing, but the court did not find his fault?
The letter, according to the administration of the company, will be sent to Alexander Lukashenko in the near future.
On August 13, Alexander Lukashenko spoke of the case Andrei Golovach. He believes that to prove the guilt of the suspect, it is not necessary to keep him in detention. The president said that at a working meeting with the chairman of the investigation committee, Ivan Noskevich.
– I do not understand how to detain a person, place in a remand center (not even in a prison, but in a remand center – the difference is clear) and keep it in the walls for four years? Hold this person then let go for lack of evidence. The fact that it is an unbridled law enforcement. And, in particular, most likely, the investigation, – said the president.

Valery Kasperovich is now in prison. The workers asked the president, while the investigation was under way, to bring back their director to work, thus modifying his degree of constraint.
April 5 already, the company had received a response from the presidential administration. Its leader, Natalia Kochanova, said that the head of state had instructed, by 20 April, to investigate the issue of Kasperovich's detention.
On April 30, Attorney General Alexander Konyuk arrived at the company. He told the workers that Valery Kasperovich would not be sent back to work and that he would remain in detention.
