Askren joined the UFC in November 2018, becoming part of the exchange agreement between Demetrius Johnson and ONE. In total, Askren has 18 fights in mixed martial arts, in which he suffered no defeat, holding league titles in the ONE and Bellator organizations.
Lawler went to Octagon on December 16, 2017 and was defeated by Raphael dos Anjos. Until July 2016, Lawler was the welterweight champion of the UFC, losing that title in the battle against Tyrone Woodley in the UFC 201 tournament.
Earlier, Askren had challenged the UFC lightweight champion, the Russian Habib Nurmagomedov.
