The heart transplantation of a 10-year-old girl from Pinsk has been successfully completed at the heart research and production center in cardiology. According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, in the practice of the medical center, it is the third case of transplantation of the heart of a child. Dasha's heart problems began at the age of six. She went to school, led a normal life, but lived with pills. However, heart failure has developed and the question of treatment had to be solved fundamentally.
In April of this year, the young patient was put on a waiting list. On June 7th, the girl was transferred to the RSPP, where a team of cardiac surgeons performed an operation. By the way, a donor heart was delivered to the clinic by a helicopter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
"The operation lasted more than five hours, the heart transplant was a success and the doctor announced today that the patient already wanted to go out," said the center cardiologist at ONT. Irina Grebenyuk.
According to experts, the intervention was standard, the clinic was ready to do it. Belarusian heart surgeons have a lot of experience. Since the beginning of the year, the center has already performed 28 heart transplants. And it is the third case of heart transplant of a child.
