Head coach of the Hungarian Vidy team, Marko Nikolic, explained how his players had exceeded the expectations of the public with victories over PAOK and were now under pressure, which makes him happy. Nikolic is not afraid of the Belarusian cold and knows the power of BATE. He spoke about it during a press conference preceding Borisov's "yellow-blue" duel in the fifth round of the Europa League group round, to be held on 29 November.
– The matches of the last two rounds are very important for us. We will play with two strong teams with great European experience. We have heard about BATE's success in European competitions over the last five to six years. Borisov has managed to win the giants of European football, they play almost every year in the Champions League or Europa League. So yes, they are more experienced than us. I will not even list the BATE players, and among them is Alexander Gleb.
Nevertheless, during the last matches of the Europa League, we also gained useful experience, gaining six points and second place in the group. We are very motivated. I see how players enjoy the training process. They always want to play at a level as high as in matches with PAOK, to play a beautiful and competitive football. We like to pursue these things that no one expected of us. We have already achieved what we wanted at this stage of the team's training and what the audience expected of us. We are proud of us I see confident guys who believe in what they are fighting for. I hope this attitude will help Borisov in the evening of the next day.
– In a match against PAOK at home, BATE missed three goals in 17 minutes. Tell me, how did "See" manage to beat the Greek team twice?
– This is a story, and we do not look back. Let me say that a lot of people did not believe in us in this group: because of the rating and the experience of the team, because we had the look of d & # 39; an outsider against our rivals. We did not think that way. In the sport in another way. And look, our football players are doing incredible things! We are about to move on to the next round of competition.
We have to keep the focus because BATE such teams can punish for the slightest mistake. We are waiting for the game of nerves. I believe we are ready for such a scenario. If you want to achieve something serious, you must be able to cope with the difficulties.
By the way, in addition to the victories on PAOK, I would like to mention our match in London with Chelsea, in which, alas, we lost again. BATE also had a fantastic match against Chelsea in Borisov. This is an example of the fact that football is not played by name, but by teams.
– After the victory over BATE, Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri said that to win the group, his team would be enough to score one point in the remaining two rounds. However, Chelsea can solve this problem if they lose their glbades to their rivals. With what motivation do you hope to see Chelsea, who will be seen by See in the last round of the Europa League group stage?
– I do not think one hundred percent about it. PAOK for us has pbaded, and Chelsea – the future. We focus on what is happening today. We are now here, waiting for an important match against BATE.
– Do you feel the pressure?
– Win the Hungarian league or play for the result in the Europa League – these are all questions about the pressure. If I did not feel it, I would not have trained "See". People who are not fit for stress do not work in big clubs. If the players reach their maximum level, I think we will reach our goal.
– Thursday, in Borisov, negative temperatures are expected – until at least 12. How such extreme weather conditions affect the quality of football and Vidi players are they ready to face the cold?
– It's just the weather. Yesterday, we trained at home in Hungary at a temperature below zero. Today, we will train in Minsk at the Dynamo stadium. What really matters is the state of the land in Borisov. This is in very good condition. The players will be on adrenaline, under the same conditions. We do not need excuses like the cold.
– Why did the team decide to train one day before the match in Minsk and not Borisov?
– We use the experience of other teams that go here on the occasion of matches with BATE and spend a lot of matches in a short time. We were on the road recently, but only a trip to Borisov would take us another three hours. Do not forget that just two days ago we went to Debrecen. Thus, under these conditions, it was considered that it would be more important to restore the players qualitatively and thus prepare them for the match with BATE.
– How do you know the state of the land in Borisov?
– We live in the 21st century, so we have of course information on the state of the field.
