In the United States, a convict confessed to killing 90 people in 35 years

The American Samuel Little, 78, who is serving a life sentence for three murders, admitted that he had killed 90 people in total for 35 years. If his guilt is confirmed, he will be the worst serial killer in American history.

Little's recognition has reported the FBI. He was sentenced to three life sentences for the murder of three women and confessed to other crimes when he was questioned on suspicion of having committed another. It mainly killed vulnerable women, often drug addicts and people involved in prostitution. This allowed him to avoid for a long time a punishment: the bodies of the victims were often impossible to identify, the criminal cases were still not resolved.

The methods of murder did not always leave the police with evidence of a violent death. The Little Boxer usually knocks out his victims and then chokes them. The police, who found no gunshot or knife wounds on the body, blamed the death on drug overdose, accidents or even natural causes.

The evidence of Little's involvement could have been traces of his DNA on the body or the clothes of the victims, but in the 1970s and 1980s, when he started killing, the DNA bases were not yet part of the police tools. Moreover, even when DNA testing was part of their daily work, the collection of evidence was complicated by the fact that Little's victims were prostitutes.

The FBI was able to draw up a list of 60 victims, of which an elderly man has already spoken. The oldest murder dates back to 1970 or 1971. Then Little killed a white woman in Florida. According to Little, her youngest victim was 16 – an African-American teenager who was killed in Mississippi in 1984. Most of the victims are known only for their death and age, according to the FBI.

However, about some Little said a little more detail. Thus, he remembers that in 1984, he had killed in Covington, Kentucky, a woman he had met in Columbus, Ohio. He left his body somewhere in the north of the state. In 1973, Little, by her own admission, found herself with a girl named Sarah, who worked at a restaurant in New Orleans. The murderer left most of the victims in Los Angeles – from 1987 to 1996, he killed 15 women.

How they caught the killer

Little has ever been an exemplary citizen. In the 1950s, he left school and left home in Ohio. He was a wanderer and never stayed long in one place. The first allegations of minor offenses date back to 1956. There was little in the shops, begging for drinks and drugs, and walking from town to town. The story of his detention is rich, but most police officers simply tried to force him to leave the city.

In 2012, Little was arrested in Kentucky and extradited to California for drug trafficking. At the same time, the Los Angeles police were juxtaposing Little's DNA with material found on the bodies of three victims killed between 1987 and 1989 – the cases have still not been resolved. In all three cases, the women were beaten and strangled. The police bodies were found in different places – in the garbage dump, in the garage and just down the alley. In 2014, Little was sentenced to three life sentences.

To reveal the rest of the crimes, Little helped the Los Angeles police consult the FBI's Violent and Sexual Crime Database, called ViCAP (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program). The FBI has discovered many other murders with similar writing. One of them has also been confirmed by the DNA. It was the victim of Odessa, Texas. Little went to interrogate the Texas Ranger James Holland, specialist of the unsolved cases. Little and he confessed to other crimes.

Little was transferred from a California prison to Texas, which he sought. The condition of a 78-year-old man is serious, the FBI thinks he's likely to die in a Texas jail.
