Everything went as planned – today at 22:54, NASA InSight was successfully on the surface of Mars. This is the first time in six years that the land platform has successfully landed on the red planet. InSight, with two MarCO satellites, was launched on May 5, 2018.
We emphasize that InSight is not a mobile, but a static platform built "in the image and likeness" of the Phoenix device. She will not cross Mars and will spend all her life on the landing site. On Mars, she will study the geology of the red planet. The duration of the mission is two years.
