"To establish that individual geographical objects (airports, railway stations, sea and river ports) may be named in honor of public figures, military and public, representatives of the sciences, the arts, of culture, sports and other persons with special services for the Homeland (hereinafter referred to as names of personalities), "says the document.

The goal is to perpetuate the memory of national, military and public personalities, representatives of sciences, arts, culture, sports and other personalities with particular services for the Motherland.

It is established that the naming of personalities to geographical objects is carried out by the President of Russia on the recommendation of the Government. It should be noted that the Public Chamber will make proposals on the naming of the government on the results of the public debates.

According to the decree, the name of the designated personality badigned to a geographical object will not be an integral part of the established name of the geographical object and the attribution of the name of the figure "will not result in modification of the established name of the geographical object ".

The contest to award the names of personalities to the airports of the Russian Federation began on October 11 and will continue until November 30. The results are scheduled for December 5th.

The goal of the project is to preserve historical memory and spiritual traditions, to create historical cultural marking territories for regions and Russia as a whole. The project is implemented in the form of a national competition that will ensure maximum coverage of the population and will take into account all opinions expressed, indicate the organizers. Residents of the Russian Federation will name by name the names of 47 airports in the country. The names Georgy Zhukov, Dmitry Mendeleev, Peter I, Andrey Tupolev and Mikhail Lomonosov were nominated as candidates at the previous stages of the competition.
