Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the introduction of an experimental tax for the self-employed.
The document proposes to introduce a special tax regime for 10 years from 1 January 2019 in the regions of Moscow, Moscow and Kaluga and Tatarstan. If the experiment succeeds, it will be distributed throughout Russia.
Self-employed people will have to pay 4% of their income if they collect it for providing services to individuals and 6% if they are legal.
According to expert estimates, about 20 million people in Russia collect income from professional activities but do not pay tax.
