At the jubilee art picnic FSP X, with the exception of other guests, the manager of the Vilnius Tech Park Ieva Dearvonskaite will arrive. The specialist has been working for a long time with start-ups and explained to Onliner.by what is the Vilnius Technopark and how the state attracts developers to the country.
Tell us about the role of the state in supporting the Vilnius Technology Park. The Vilnius Technopark is a private initiative. We have been supported only by the Municipality of Vilnius – has given good conditions for the rental of premises, and we have the opportunity to invest in the renovation of the building. With the exception of this, we do not receive grants or low privileges.
– The Vilnius Technopark is therefore a business center and not a hi-tech park
– I do not know exactly what kind of technology park. We are an ICT park, the largest in the Baltic. Now, under one roof, we have 65 startups, 3 venture capital funds, coworking, several representatives of large companies – for example, Google Lithuania. Here is also the governmental organization Startup Lithuania, which works with start-ups.
– What are your requirements for becoming a technopark member?
– There is a set of rules and a commission to ensure that only "good" teams join the Vilnius Technopark. For example, it is exactly start-ups, not companies that have been working for 15 years. We do not focus on one industry, but a start-up must be technological and innovative.
At least 15% of start-ups should not come from Vilnius – this is the requirement of both ours and the municipality. Projects from other cities and countries will come
– Now we pay more attention to food companies, and not to outsourcing. How in this respect is the situation in Lithuania?
– I think it's about 50:50. The government is interested in a number of things. For example, by attracting foreign companies to Lithuania. They can benefit from various subsidies and comfortable conditions – after all, Google, for example, creates innovations and jobs for Lithuanians. At the same time, the state seeks to support young businesses. Now we are working to increase the number of start-ups.
We also have a starter visa for about a year and a half, an easy way for start-up developers to transport their business and their families to Lithuania from any country. This is especially convenient for those who are not from the European Union.
At the same time, the Government and the National Bank of Lithuania are interested in the development of the Finnish financial market. They are trying to simplify some procedures. For example, in some countries it takes a year or two to open a financial company and obtain a banking license, and in Lithuania everything is speeded up to three months.
– How many Belarusian startups are there in the Vilnius Technopark?
– Unfortunately, only one. Of course, we would like more. We also had Trackduck, a Lithuanian-Belarusian project. And recently, we signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Brest Science Park (probably Brest Science and Technology Park.)
FSP Art X Picnic will be held from July 28th to 29th at Dreamland Park. [19659016] Keyboards in the directory Onliner.by
