The meeting will take place on Monday 20 May at 15.00 (22.00 Moscow time). Moscow was the initiator of the meeting.

"Tomorrow, at our initiative, the Security Council will meet to discuss the law on Ukrainian. We believe that this is contrary to the letter and spirit of the Minsk Agreement, which has been approved by the Council, "said Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's first Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, at TASS. The meeting will be open to journalists.

The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, signed a law last week devoting the use of the official language in all spheres of life, with the exception of personal contacts and religion . According to Mr Poroshenko, the new law aims "to preserve the status of the Ukrainian state".
