Russian in Germany sentenced to 14 years in prison for attacking "Borussia"

A jury in Dortmund on Tuesday, November 27, sentenced Sergei V. to 14 years in prison, accused of attacking the German football team Borussia.

A 29-year-old Russian convicted of attempted murder of 28 people. Previously, the prosecutor had asked for a life sentence, the defense had insisted that the sentence be punishable by less than ten years.

The explosions in the bus Borussia Dortmund took place on April 11, 2017. Russian and German citizen, Sergey V. was arrested in this case ten days later. It was calculated due to the acquisition of several tens of thousands of option certificates for slightly active shares of the Dortmund football club. According to DW, with different options for lowering the price of securities, it could make a profit of 550,000 to one million euros.

At the trial, Sergey V. admitted that he had made explosive devices and placed them near the road on which the football club bus was pbading. However, he claimed that he did not intend to kill anyone.
