We brought to the editor six models of electric kettle nominated in different categories. This is a completely different choice, unlike the review of five years ago. Some models (more precisely the principles) have remained at the same level. Someone, like the Atlant cooking pots, got tired of fighting stereotypes and disappeared. But the bottom line is that the world is captured by smart kettles. Coming back from Bluetooth, they will learn one day to distinguish between a few terrible weeks, when the batteries are not yet lit, and they will pick you up at night to warm them up. But the first things first.

Cheap Homestar
Kettle for 17 rubles. This is the price of a few cups of tea in some streets of youth in Minsk. And then the whole kettle, the equipment, the technology. And all this is in the box! Wonderful moments.
The Russian Scrap Factory is listed as a manufacturer, but the same teapots are produced by millions of other brands. Comrades from China make inscriptions on the case.
Great option for the office or to give. Ready to boil up to 1.8 liters of water. We boiled a liter – it turned out in 4 minutes and 51 seconds. The worst result of all draws, but where are you in a hurry? Such a kettle is not about speed.
At any miracle presentation at the House of Culture, this model will be easily sold for 100 rubles (with a discount of 30 euros) because it is made of favorite stainless steel, beloved.
Three characteristics of the model are striking. First, the bottom "corrugated" of the kettle. Also think about mirrors and children's plastic film.
Secondly, the manufacturer has saved on the application of the scale. If you like to boil 300 milliliters of water (no more, no less) then look at something else. There are only two extremes: min and max.
And the third thing touches the sense of smell: the kettle heats and smells bad. And a lot. Usually it goes with time, but now you know.
Once again, we boiled a liter of water. If you think that the sound of the kettle will raise children and neighbors, then no. Homestar made a sound of 78 dB. And cooled in half an hour to 72 degrees. These numbers are even better than the average.
Clbadic Bosch
This model has been sold on the Belarusian market since 2004 (only three years after the appearance of the Onliner) and is still at the top. A few dozen reviews and 20 sellers in the catalog are a success. And what about this teapot? They opened the box, boiled water – all became clear: the national love for German brands at an affordable price. Well, faith in miracles.
By paying for a kettle, you get a very nice box in your hands, which shows a white plastic device and a metal jar. Open – a little upset. The picture on the box is the conditional lighter, the teapot on the table is the reality. It is not at all white. And the metal case is not at all mysterious, it will reflect the life of your kitchen.
Bosch has a scale of water volume poured (inside), a light bulb, a latch for closing the lid and a button . It lights up mysteriously not by pressing, but by raising. More in the kettle is nothing to consider. The perfect hard worker.
This model boiled its liter a little faster than the previous "Chinese", but the boil did not take place in silence: 81 dB is the strongest kettle of all our samples.
Belarussian Polly
We propose a walk through the beauty. We have already mentioned Atlant, which has stopped making kettles – now, in fact, there is hardly anyone left. Electric kettle industry – Endangered. One of the remaining pillars (and perhaps the only one) is the Borisov Polly company.
At first glance, it sounds ridiculous, but take a stroll through the streets of any city, let yourself be surprised by the play of light in the glazing of the buildings, all these columns, the domes of the new buildings, the turrets and other artistic and architectural eclecticism. Therefore, do not be shocked at the sight of this kettle. Yes, it has such unexpected colors and a round button on the lid – but the designer sees it that way!
After the experience, the reasons to choose the design of the shell a little thinned. The piping on the lid does not heat, so it's convenient for her to open the kettle.
It is surprising that it costs twice as much as other decent models. And what is "Lux" in the title? 83% is due to the presence of the filter.
In this kettle, everything looks strange: color, shape, lid, power button and even plastic. It must be simply a foreign Chinese creation. And of ours – just a sticker (as if from the early nineties). In general, I want to use the kettle as soon as possible, but not to watch it.
According to the lens: when it is heated, the kettle smells very bad – not just a heated iron, but very bad. About as intense as the cheapest Homestar, only the taste is worse.
At the same time, the Polly model can not be called super-noise (normal indicators) nor slow: unlike Bosch, the Borisov teapot boiled a liter of water in less than 4 minutes.
Fashionable kitchen helper
And here is another teapot on beauty. And it costs like ten Polly. Is it ten times better? The fashionable housewives, for whom the shape of the refrigerator is more important than its contents, consider: unequivocally.
By the way, Kitchen Aid also has a mesh filter, but they did not come calling 'Lux'. The Americans proposed another marketing feature: they called the color of this retro-pot, not red, but "caramel apple".
The teapot seems very large because of the wide "washer" of the platform. This takes up more space in the kitchen and only a liter and a half escapes into the kettle. But the platform does not slip on the table, does not allow the teapot to slip (seal anywhere) and allowed the company engineers to install a temperature controller (50 to 100 degrees) with a lever super cool . No jerks, contractions or squeaks: it rolls gently, like on rails covered with a blanket.
One more detail: the Kitchen Aid kettle has the most pleasant sound. No squeaks or clicks. With such noise at several kilometers altitude, the pbadengers of the plane are allowed to detach their seatbelt.
We give this model a prize in the category "Longest Drawstring".
On the wall of Kitchen Aid – a thermometer, like a clock. Its practical use is close to zero (the exact temperature is regulated by the regulator and it is easier to understand if the water in the kettle is hot if you touch the case with your hand), but it is beautiful – retro, everything was planned.
The manufacturer claims the double walls of the body of the kettle, which means heat resistance and silence. The model is probably double walled, but with their help, it has not become drastically quieter or more energy efficient. The kettle showed the fastest heating of a liter of water (3 minutes 46 seconds), but it was normal: 2400 W is the most powerful kettle of the table. In terms of noise, it has not become a leader in terms of preserving the water temperature. There is only half an hour of boiling water, which is as far removed from the best indicators as the design of Borisov teapot of "caramel apple".
Smart Redmond and Xiaomi
Smart teapots – talk to your grandparents. Meanwhile, the following scenario is not so fantastic: one day, at the request of the creator, a smart kettle, a smart slow cooker and a smart vacuum cleaner (to carry with all the appliances) will gather in a robot and will block you in the room.
Not to beleive? Such thoughts occur approximately in a person who, for the first time, controls a kettle from a smartphone.
A teapot from the Redmond Skykettle range is no surprise: a black plastic base and a glbad bottle. Externally, everything is of normal quality, it does not feel much. But then the pleasure begins.
First, the manufacturer has badembled a colorful glossy presentation booklet. Here, unwanted flyers of other Redmond products and useful tea recipes for someone.
Second, in the kettle, there is a thermostat that provides four positions (not including boiling): 40, 55, 70 and 85 degrees. Management is on the handle. If you choose 45, the kettle boils with water, then it will maintain the desired temperature. However, the water in the glbad vial cools relatively quickly – after half an hour, the temperature was below 70 degrees.

Now, a few words on the "mind". The kettle is equipped with a sensor and communicates with the application of your phone via Bluetooth (the application must be downloaded and saved). If you imagine that you can start the kettle and go home, you will be disappointed. The documents indicate that, from the kettle, you must not (more than 15 meters) with the phone. So, what is the checkpoint via the phone?
Parameters All the functions that must be managed by a unit must be placed in the form of buttons on the body of the kettle, easily inserted in the application. The color of the backlight, its intensity, a specific temperature, the regulation of this temperature to a certain degree and even the "tea disco" (the application will connect to the microphone of the phone and transmit the information to the kettle). If the music is played, the backlighting rhythm, changing colors, "dances" the rhythm you heard.
Statistics are also present in the application. You will be able to study the number of brews of tea and energy consumption during empty evenings. Maybe even try to somehow apply this information.
As for Xiaomi, it is an excellent kettle whose main disadvantage is the lack of scale (nothing is visible, not even the water level).
At the beginning of the article, we had written that the Bosch teapot had a better appearance on the packaging than in reality. In the case of Xiaomi, the situation is the opposite: the model is simple and beautiful. White as pure snow, matte plastic, comfortable grip, narrow base.
A physical button and two sensory, with hieroglyphics (one button is responsible for boiling, the second – to maintain the temperature). The sensors are pressed easily, with one touch, are misplaced and uncomfortable, inside the handle.
With its appearance, the kettle inspired the hope of good thermal protection. That's what happened. Half an hour after boiling, the water temperature indicated 77 degrees, or 5 to 9 more than the other models. In addition, Xiaomi won an informal contest for a silent kettle: 73 dB.
During heating, the plastic does not smell, the walls are barely warm – do not burn.
But the smart features and the application – a curious torture, nothing more. First, some beginners will stop trying to plug the kettle. I did not work with iOS.
I had to attract a friend to another phone – it worked. Why, it is not clear.
Through the application, this kettle can not even be turned on. You can only set the exact temperature and, by pressing the second button inside the handle, wait. To prevent the user from being hurt by tears, Xiaomi engineers have added another useful feature: in the app, you can set the length of time that the kettle will maintain the desired temperature. Weakly.
Instead of a summary
All the kettles we have demonstrated today have done their job: you pour cold water on them and you get boiling water. The selection depends on the place, the age and the sense of beauty. Look again at this series: they are as different as the buyers. I would not be surprised if the advocates of a red-pink combination appear in the comments.
In my kitchen, I would put Kitchen Aid or Xiaomi (only without application!), I would take everything else to work.
