Smartphones will be transparent (one day), with curved and flexible screens, as well as batteries that can receive a charge directly from the environment. Regularly changing the device does not have to do it either – all production capacity will be located on remote servers. But these are all dreams. Before a better future, we will be content with conventional rectangular cell phones with known batteries and "mono-fronts" of various shapes.
Future designers, who regularly present their creations to the world, better understand the look and function of smartphones of the future. They are based on rumors, patent images and revision of existing devices. Therefore, the renders are most often similar to the vinaigrette and are similar at the same time.
However, manufacturers do not stay still – they do not just talk about futuristic functions, but sometimes even opt for their implementation. Partially revolutionary devices are obtained, except that their lifespan is sometimes not very long – innovation does not always survive after being tested by reality. Or continues to exist, but in a modified state.
The contents
We collected the top of these "chips". Some were considered the hallmark of new smartphones, but they were gradually forgotten, others lasted longer and others still only make their way.
Smartphones bended
These came from two longtime competitors of the mobile phone market in the fall of 2013: at that time, Samsung had launched Galaxy Round and LG-G Flex (they appeared at different times, but they were both qualified as "world's first"). You can also remember the Google Galaxy Nexus, but it was sturdy with a curvature barely visible from the screen, but not the whole body.
G Flex and Galaxy Round did not look like the usual "bricks" of that era, since they folded sharply inward: one was beautifully vertical, the other horizontally. This is the main difference between the two devices and their "flat" counterparts.
It was badumed that the proposed form would add ergonomics and make viewing video content more comfortable. Because of the unusual features, one might even be persuaded: yes, it's really practical. But little by little enthusiasm has pbaded, then flaws have begun to appear.
One of the companies issued a "suite" based on the concept, but the idea is quickly blurred. Probably neither the users nor the manufacturers could find such a beautiful form.
Or maybe too many people have sat on smartphones unsuccessfully, trying to give them their usual flat shape. On this cell phone bent agree with difficulty. Both in a figurative and direct sense. Although, if you wish, they could be "straightened" without damaging.
Forecasts have been issued: by 2015-2016, the vast majority of mobile phones will be so. It did not work. From "more" – price increase and controversial convenience.
Cases of "self-healing"
This idea has nevertheless found its application, albeit in a modified form. And rather only with the help of third party accessories, which completely changes things. It is the "self-healing" coating of the case, able to withstand slight scratches – it dissolves almost magically even without the participation of Kashpirovsky. Not right now (it takes time) and not all (the potholes of a big grater are not going anywhere), but nevertheless. Moreover, the technology did not "cure" the scratches, it only tried to reduce them significantly. Over time, the safety margin probably disappeared and a place of dazzling beauty was occupied by scratches. But this is not accurate.
Now, they write about the fact that the same screens will appear, the polymers will learn to "heal" not even scratches, but small cracks. But things are still there, we can only hope the strength of the next version of the "Gorilla" or another type of protective glbad. Well, the housings are now entirely made of metal – they are scratch-resistant, but there are still no super-efficient and "self-healing" coatings.
As in the case of curved (and, so to speak, flexible) screens, the idea did not take root, even though it lasted for two generations of flexing by LG: the process did not take place. probably not complicated, not all materials that can be coated. The official version sounded like this: a "self-healing" coating adds shine, and it's not always fashionable.
Modern materials allow you to keep the body in a normal shape without any "self-healing" film. In addition, many people use blankets and bumpers (and some even envelope the device in the movie).
3D screens
Incredible, but true: one of the first 3D display phones was released in 2002. By the way, it's almost wearing the Belarusian name, although it comes from Japan – Sharp mova SH251iS. To "move", however, the device has no relation. Yes, and the images could only be static and worked only in the NTT DoCoMo local operator network.
The screen used parallax barrier technology. The latter was placed under the glbad and in front of the screen, pbading a certain set of pixels through the "slot". In this case, the viewer can look at a three-dimensional image without special glbades. Recently, the "usual" parallax barrier has been abandoned in favor of more advanced technologies, and the Red Hydrogen One smartphone, launched in late 2018, has become the top.
Previously, Samsung, Hitachi and Motorola had tried to enter the market with mobile phones with stereoscopic displays. We managed to popularize slightly the direction when the release of HTC EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D P920 – in 2011. The cameras can film in 3D thanks to a special photo module, then reproduce the support received on the screen. Later, there were "sequels" and "successors", in the "stereo" even tried to turn on Amazon with the Fire phone. But none of the phones has become mainstream.
3D screens in smartphones are still alive, but the "chip" is still in demand, which is also used by little known brands (red does not count, but it is the only one in the list). Yes, and the dignity of this technology to call the language does not turn: it is how to integrate the mobile phone fan. This seems to be necessary, but remains useless.
Projectors in smartphones
The smartphone has long been transformed into a combine that successfully replaces many gadgets: on vacation, you no longer have to carry a backpack with a camera and video camera, a player, etc. It was expected that the modern mobile phone will replace the projector one day. If there is a desire and an opportunity, why not?
And again, the pioneers were not familiar to all brands, but to someone from the outside. In 2008, Logic Bolt V1.0 was released by an American company. The following year, Samsung Show and LG eXpo appeared, but the technology did not develop very actively. After all, there were still opportunities that one could call self-indulgence.
Yes, the resolution of the image has gradually increased and its brightness has also increased. The idea was more or less actively developed until 2016, Akyumen was the last fighter, but she also surrendered. Today, software solutions are replacing smartphones-based projectors that enable content to be broadcast on monitors / TVs.
Yes, you do not find your beautiful pictures on the wall, you will not launch YouTube. But is it necessary? Obviously not. Therefore, forgotten successfully.
Transmission of sound by the vibrations of the body and the bones
With this technology have not played enough, so talk about his pbading early. Companies continue to experiment, but no really practical smartphone is out yet. It's hard to say who was the first to use vibration in mobile devices. A similar approach, but different technologies were used in Kyocera Urbano, announced in 2012, Xiaomi Mi Mix, released much later, and in other devices.
In any case, the sound is transmitted because of the vibrations of the surfaces – the body or the screen. This allows you to bring the cell phone to your ear almost any side or part. Cool, but no more than a concept for geeks. It produces a wow effect and is a step forward from the point of view of marketers, for whom the key is to draw attention to the product.
The main disadvantage of the technology, built on the resonance of the smartphone's surfaces, is that your conversation will be heard by everyone nearby. In addition, the sound quality resembles that of an old striped mono-tray. It is unlikely that with this it will be possible to do something in the years to come. Maybe part of the situation will be corrected by mobile phones with 'vibrating' screens (although this is not a novelty, such a thing has been used in Kyocera devices), but there are big doubts.
Helmets, which use the effect of sound transmission by cartilage and bones, remain more or less popular, but can hardly be called currents. It is a technology that is also worth giving up.
Multi-screen smartphones
We are talking about several screens, and not what they are supposed to be preparing to market in the near future – as they were flexible, as it was about screens folding.
For example, the same Kyocera has somehow released the Echo smartphone with a composite display. It was a "sandwich" that users could turn into a semi-plate with a big screen. The conceptual device was interesting precisely because of its unusual character, and not its practical side.
A relatively new ZTE Axon M. is bulky, heavy, impractical and, as often happens with "revolutionary" devices, useless. Watching a movie on it is uncomfortable – a wide slit, an ill-fitting picture … No, it's just a demonstration, "how could that be."
Another look at the idea of two-screen smartphones is implemented in the NEX Dual Display Edition, where screens are located both front and back. There are ZTE nubia X and others (some try to install screens on electronic ink). Who will win, if fashion will spread, is not yet clear. Obviously, the owner of such a mobile phone will only receive a piece of the future movies that he holds in his hand and his composure.
Super Dynamic, 100,000 Megapixel, 5G Gaming Machines
In the last paragraph, we mention some relatively controversial technologies and directions. On one side, their need is an important issue, on the other – if the trends will change a bit.
With regard to a very large number of pixels, the Nokia 808 PureView of 2012 probably gave the start to such a mode. He had a huge matrix for smartphones (both his physical size and his resolution). The idea came to my taste, but the race for megapixels is quickly quieted. Until recently. Now sellers have started to increase this figure again, visibly sneaky: 48 megapixels for example, actually look like the honey of bad bees. We will see, because for now everything looks like an advertising gesture.
Speaking of superdynamics, we can remember the HTC solution. It was a long time ago, BoomSound has changed since. Or become familiar. This juicy sound is already forgotten, although some manufacturers, including Apple, manage to get good performance. Another issue is that music is always played in headphones, and for youth discos, advanced young people use wireless speakers.
Gaming smartphones – it's still an attempt to show that "I'm not like the others". In "standard" and "gaming" mobiles, the same hardware and software are used. Someone can install a better screen (and not a fact) and declare an extremely efficient cooling system. Or propose a nice design and the possibility to connect an optional gamepad. And sometimes on the "penny" of "AvtoVAZ" cause tapes and called "sports".
Finally, 5G. This technology is just getting ready to come into our mortal world, we talk a lot about it. By 2019, at least five models of 5G smartphones should be marketed, but the coverage of their work will be very limited. In some areas, these phones will have no meaning. For example, where LTE barely breathes. In fact, those working with the "Internet of Things" concept will benefit from the deployment of 5G.
Yes, not all technologies are used, some seem useless. However, there is another aspect of the problem: thanks to such experiences, several problems are solved. Manufacturers develop skills, learn empirically what the consumer needs and also gain a competitive advantage. Sometimes, of course, marketing goes too far. Yes, 48 megapixels in a smartphone are considered a "smart" cool, but for 90% of people, it's simply a figure that influences the decision to purchase, but that n & # 39; 39; does not make sense after the acquisition.
