"He had a suspension!" So everyone at the presentation – journalists to employees of the Hyundai representative office in Ukraine. In what other areas did the progress of the Korean auto industry take place? And is the new Santa Fe ready to challenge recognized subsidies? That's what we learned while driving along Kiev neighborhoods, not on the best roads.
The 2.2-liter CRDi union of a power of 202 horsepower and an "automatic" 8-band has proved rather good, although in some situations the box is lit with a slight catch. Otherwise, there are no complaints. Soft, discreet switching. The dynamics with this engine is not exceptional – 9.5 seconds to "hundreds", but that's enough for a family crossover. On one of the sites I managed to accelerate to 180 km / h. The new Santa Fe at the same time remains unperturbed, and the most important – calm. With sound insulation and external noise isolation, there is usually a complete control. The engine is audible only with intensive overclocking, the wheel arches do not make noise, only the wind whistles in the mirrors, but with this speed, this whistle does not grow.
However, the main thing in this car is a retuned chbadis. Structurally, the suspension stays the same – McPherson at the front and a multi-link system from behind. But Korean engineers have completely "shaken". As a result, the crossover has been rid of the excessive rigidity inherent in the previous generation, the softness and comfort gained. The irregularity of Ukrainian roads (and the roads are far from ideal), the suspension turns into smooth and rounded jerks, and unless the pits with sharp edges can gently pull the car out of him -even. But the suspension will not allow anyway to shake the shots. Such settings did not affect controllability. The rolls in the turns for a high crossover are moderate, the steering wheel reactions are precise, and in the "Sport" mode they are even more aggravated. It's a pleasure to gently write curved arcs.
