"He had a suspension!" So everyone at the presentation – journalists to employees of the Hyundai representative office in Ukraine. In what other areas did the progress of the Korean auto industry take place? And is the new Santa Fe ready to challenge recognized subsidies? That's what we learned while driving along Kiev neighborhoods, not on the best roads.

<p>  Wahou effect. Without this, it is difficult to prove to the buyer that he needs something new. Looking at the fourth generation of Santa Fe, this effect arises. Despite the fact that the reception with optical "two floors" is far from new, Santa Fe is very impressive, especially seen from the front and three quarters. And behind is not bad. But in the profile, I looked a little heavy. But there is an explanation for that. The roof in the back part is made not inclined in favor of fashion, but horizontal. This allowed to increase the space for the third row pbadengers. </p>
<p>  A separate version of the Grand Santa Fe with seven seats will not be. In the new generation, the car has increased by 70 mm, the wheelbase has increased. So the third row was able to adapt and so. But the road test in Kiev, the seven-seater cars have not been worn. Yes, and with a range of engines could not get to know each other. All cars turned out to be with diesel engines and new 8-band automatic transmissions. </p>

<p>  On the Russian market, the new Santa Fe will be sold only with all-wheel drive and "automatic", that is to say that the same layout can be expected on our market. Preliminary prices – from 32 thousand dollars for the basic version and up to 38 thousand dollars for the car in the higher version. The cars will be badembled in Kaliningrad, at the factory of Avtotor. More detailed information will appear closer to the start of sales. Then, the exact range of engines will also be known. The complete line consists of six units with a power of 172 to 280 hp. The basic engine, by the way, is supposed to be an "automatic" 6-band. In the versions for the European market, there will be cars with front wheel drive and "mechanics". </p>

<p>  If the appearance causes an unambiguous wow effect, then the inside of the imagination is not striking. But the tactile sensations are incredible. It smells like a bonus. In all directions. Yes, the interior design may seem boring. Someone will find it simply calm and concise. But it is unlikely to find a quality defect in the finishing materials. Personally, I "hung" only for a hard plastic bet on the door card and the door handles opening the inner door. In reality, they have proven to be plastic, although they successfully mimic aluminum. Everything else is good and excellent. The same corrugated "lambs" on the air conditioner turn and feel no worse than the Audi </p>
<p>  The front seats are equipped with ventilation and heating, as well as numerous electrical adjustments. I managed to put myself at ease even though the lateral support was not tight enough. On the other hand, why does the family cross these tight embraces of sporty "ladles"? But in the long drive, you feel like on your favorite couch. </p>

<p>  In later versions, the dashboard is half-virtual. The central part instead of the speedometer is simply a color display with good graphics. Arrowheads left and right are badog. Santa Fe offers four modes of movement, according to each changing "dashboard" chart. </p>
<p>  In general, the maximum configuration is, in fact, all that is needed for a modern car that claims to compete with European and Japanese giants:, Lane Hold System (good marking for marking, but allows to remove the hands of the flying for up to 20 seconds), panoramic cameras, automatic parking system, emergency braking system, motor start from the smartphone, projection display. </p>
<p>  Interesting chips – the warning system on the forgotten in the back seat of the child. At the back are ultrasonic sensors that detect motion. If the driver has closed the car and left, the audible alarm will turn on. We decided to test the system. For some reason, she refused to see me, despite my agitation in the back seat. But his colleague Ivan Krishkevich immediately took charge of the child left unattended. </p>
<p>  Another family option is Safety Exit Assist. With the help of sensors, the system detects cars that are approaching from behind and does not unlock the security lock on the rear door. </p>

<p>  On the rear sofa of the five-seater version – almost limousine space. There is a corner adjustment of the back tilt, the pillow can be moved to the front. The profile of the chair and the height of the pillow are chosen successfully. I spent a few hours behind and I did not even want to drive. But I note that for more comfort, it is better to forget the third pbadenger from behind. The sides of the back are cluttered in the center, so the three riders have already snuggled together. </p>

<p>  The volume of the trunk is 625 liters, 40 liters more than the car of the previous generation. The trunk door is equipped with an electric drive and it has two speeds. Speed ​​mode that I liked – the door goes up and falls in seconds. In the five-seater version we had on the test, under the floor of the trunk there is an awesome compartment, and the "spare" is stored on the outside, under the bottom </p>

The 2.2-liter CRDi union of a power of 202 horsepower and an "automatic" 8-band has proved rather good, although in some situations the box is lit with a slight catch. Otherwise, there are no complaints. Soft, discreet switching. The dynamics with this engine is not exceptional – 9.5 seconds to "hundreds", but that's enough for a family crossover. On one of the sites I managed to accelerate to 180 km / h. The new Santa Fe at the same time remains unperturbed, and the most important – calm. With sound insulation and external noise isolation, there is usually a complete control. The engine is audible only with intensive overclocking, the wheel arches do not make noise, only the wind whistles in the mirrors, but with this speed, this whistle does not grow.

However, the main thing in this car is a retuned chbadis. Structurally, the suspension stays the same – McPherson at the front and a multi-link system from behind. But Korean engineers have completely "shaken". As a result, the crossover has been rid of the excessive rigidity inherent in the previous generation, the softness and comfort gained. The irregularity of Ukrainian roads (and the roads are far from ideal), the suspension turns into smooth and rounded jerks, and unless the pits with sharp edges can gently pull the car out of him -even. But the suspension will not allow anyway to shake the shots. Such settings did not affect controllability. The rolls in the turns for a high crossover are moderate, the steering wheel reactions are precise, and in the "Sport" mode they are even more aggravated. It's a pleasure to gently write curved arcs.

<p>  However, for a really sporty sharpness, the new Santa Fe is stripped. Always feel that they have done it with an eye on the overseas market. It 's nice to go there, it' s more pleasant to go fast, but the car does not know how and does not need to pump adrenaline with liters. But for long distance trips – a dream. And I would rather go, lounging awesome on a comfortable sofa. </p>
