If the attending physician is convinced that the vision has stopped changing, you have the option of performing a laser correction, which may allow you to forget the glbades and contact lenses.
Vision often diminishes when critical periods of growth and development of a person are over, for example towards the end of adolescence. This can be stopped by constant observation of an ophthalmologist and rapid implementation of all his recommendations. To begin, you can make a complete diagnosis to understand why the vision has fallen and if it has really stopped getting worse.
Laser correction can be performed in sleep conditions. Is there a similar service in Belarus? What are the characteristics of such a procedure?
The laser correction under the conditions of anesthesia in Belarus is not carried out because the procedure itself is quite easily tolerated by patients. In itself, anesthesia is not completely safe for humans and requires subsequent mandatory observation of the patient during the day at the hospital. The negative experience of using anesthesia at private medical centers will always encourage physicians to abandon medicated sleep where it is not really needed.
What are the real contraindications to laser correction? Does pregnancy affect the correction procedure? Is it better to do it before or after birth?
The contraindications to laser correction are any inflammatory process of the organs of vision, hereditary diseases of the cornea, a retinal retinal pathology and a pronounced state of "lazy eye".
If a woman is pregnant, she will never do laser correction. In this case, it is best to delay the procedure for the postpartum period, when the hormonal balance is fully restored. As a rule, the doctor suggests to perform a laser correction before and after pregnancy and after delivery. According to statistics, most girls undergo the procedure before the birth of the child.
I have a total of -13 on both eyes, individually -12.5 with a little (contact lenses at -10). In the lenses, I see 7-8 lines. I'm thinking of a partial laser correction because I have retinal dystrophy and I have a laser coagulation procedure periodically.
I understand that I will never have unity, even with the help of a laser correction, especially since I do not know what state the cornea is. But is it possible to improve the vision of 3 to 5 diopters? How common are these operations and successes? Do you monitor patients after correction (am I interested in the dynamics of vision changes resulting from the procedure)?
You must go through a complete vision diagnosis, after which the surgeon will explain all possible options to improve it. It is often possible to completely eliminate myopia, not partially. However, without complete information on the state of your eyes, giving an accurate answer is not realistic.
With regard to monitoring the state of vision after the procedure, doctors usually monitor their patients for 3 to 6 months. Patients are observed in our center for one year because vision can be re-established and changed over the next 12 months. And if necessary, the patient receives a free additional correction during the year.
I have astigmatism. Forums write that with this diagnosis can not do laser vision correction. Is it true?
Astigmatism is one of the most common indications of laser vision correction. Some technologies make it possible to obtain a perfectly flat eye surface and correct astigmatism even at high degrees. To understand if it is possible and necessary to have an operation, you must talk to an ophthalmologist.
I am 37 years old. I want to make a laser correction, there are no contraindications. But they say that at this age, it makes no sense to do so, because after forty years, the vision will deteriorate anyway. And what better in a few years to put the lenses. Is it wise to wait?
37 years is the age available for laser vision correction. Age changes can really begin, but when it happens exactly, it is impossible to badume: everything is very individual. Someone – at age 50, someone – at age 70. Therefore, at your age, you can perform laser vision correction. But for the elderly, this procedure is really not suitable: they restore vision by replacing the lenses.
I'm doing athletics. I want to make a laser correction. But now there are so many methods: there are even some specifically for athletes. Is it just marketing or is it really different? If yes, what? How to choose and not lose?
Even taking into account that you practice athletics, any method of laser correction will suit you. Specific recommendations are possible after the diagnosis and badessment of the current state of your eyes with a laser surgeon. In my opinion, a special method for athletes is only marketing.
As a general rule, during the first week after surgery, doctors limit the training of patients. Swimming and swimming in the sea should also be postponed for about a month. Strengthened exercise after the end of the observation period, which lasts about four months, does not affect the outcome.
