The Twitter microblogging network blocked an @putinRF_eng account, parodying Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We suspended the @putinRF_eng for parodying on the basis of reliable data received from Russian officials," the Twitter administration said in a statement released on the night of Nov. 29.

Twitter spokesman Jan Plunkett confirmed to Reuters that the blocked account was not affiliated with the Russian president.
Regarding the archived images of the account, the agency notes that this one was created in November 2012 and that the audience has about 1 million subscribers. On the account page, there were mostly official links to Putin's public speeches, the agency added.
