A serious accident just happened this Tuesday morning, around 8:15, on the N51, near Thulin, not far from the crossroads of the Saint-Man. Four vehicles are involved. The roadway is closed to traffic.
Traffic is closed in both directions, on the road leading from Quiévrain to Boussu. The police turn around the motorists arriving from Boussu. Local deviations are put in place.
Four cars are involved in the accident. Several ambulances were dispatched on site. Firefighters and the police are also on the scene. According to our information, this is the collision of two vehicles, cars that then hit parking vehicles. Unfortunately, one person has died. It would be a French motorist. Another person is very badly injured. A maneuver overtaking would be at the origin of the accident. According to the mayor of Hensies, Eric Thiebaut, present on the spot, the maneuver would have gone wrong and the two vehicles, coming from Boussu, would have been affected during the drawdown. The drivers then lost control. One of them crashed into a parked car that was dragged about 40 meters. The driver was seriously injured. The other driver's car violently hit a pole. The driver has unfortunately died.
The accident did not happen at the crossroads of the Saint-Man itself, but a little further. Traffic is closed between Avenue du Souvenir and the Saint-Man crossroads. The prosecution has been informed of the facts.
