The number of cholera cases in Cameroon was 53 with the spread of the disease in Douala, the economic metropolis where two cases were reported on Tuesday, according to a new report that Xinhua was informed Wednesday evening at the Ministry of Public Health.
After three cases that were notified on 18 may in the northern region, the epidemic continues to grow in the country. Of the ten administrative regions, three are now affected, with two cases recorded in the health districts of Deïdo and Nylon, in the city of Douala.
The first case in this city was notified Tuesday at the military hospital of the second Cameroonian military region, which belongs in particular to the health district of Deïdo, according to the health authorities.
In the center of the country, the health districts of Monatélé and Ndikinimeki, close to Yaoundé, each recorded a case Tuesday, bringing to five the number of cases reported in this region since the announcement of the first case occurred on July 12 at Jamot Hospital, in the health district of Djoungolo, Yaounde which adds up to three, including two confirmed and one death .
