Following a check by the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Afsca), a school will no longer be able to serve as a soup of fresh vegetables prepared by a volunteer, reports the Future Tuesday.
A soup with fresh vegetables served to the children of the Clavier-Station communal school was prepared by the mother of a teacher.
Following a visit last week by an Afsca agent, this soup can no longer be served because it was prepared at the volunteer's home and not at school.
Afsca told L'Avenir that it is the recurring nature of the preparation that poses a problem. "Given the systematic nature of this activity, it must be subject to the same rules as those applied to community kitchens, such as being able to trace products in case of problems".
Unless the mother registers with the Afsca, it is unlikely that her soup will be served again at the Clavier-Station school.
