The supermarket chain Carrefour announced Monday the recall of a cheese, the raw milk reblochon "Reflets de France", because of the possible presence of salmonella.
The company Fromagerie de la Tournette decided, in collaboration with the Afsca (Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain) and "as a precautionary measure", to withdraw the milk reblochon cheese from the sale of milk. raw, sold in the cream department of some Carrefour stores in Belgium.
All products have been removed from sale. Some have, however, been marketed on the Belgian market before the withdrawal measure. It is therefore recommended that people who hold the cheese in question not consume it. Customers can report it to the point of sale where the product will be refunded.
Food infections caused by salmonella result in gastrointestinal disorders often accompanied by fever within 12 to 72 hours after consumption of contaminated products. These symptoms may be aggravated in young children, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly. People who have consumed the reblochon and who have these symptoms, are advised to consult their doctor by reporting this consumption.
