Ross joined Mercedes in 2011 from Williams, and was Nico Rosberg's race engineer when he won the world title in 2016.
"Tony Ross is going to be the chief race engineer of our Formula E program," reveals Toto Wolff, director of Mercedes AMG F1, before adding jokingly: "He's tired of you [les médias, ndlr] and wants to spin in a fun environment with a single day of racing in great cities. "

According to information from Motorsport.com, Ross will soon be joining HWA Racelab, a subsidiary of Mercedes, for the 2018-19 season of Formula E. The star brand will take over the team in its own name for the 2019-20 campaign, with a powertrain developed at same location as Formula 1 at its Brixworth facility. Recall that HWA currently uses Venturi customer engines.
As for who will be Bottas' racing engineer in 2019, Wolff answers enigmatically: "We're talking about it, it's not quite true, but give me a few weeks."
