The leadership of the organization Inter-Environment Wallonia (IEW) has decided to file a complaint after receiving two letters containing death threats, she said Tuesday in a statement. These threats follow his stance on the issue of African swine fever. Two letters were sent to IEW employees this week, "whose content leaves no doubt about the malicious intent of his or her authors," says the non-profit organization. "These threats, which directly target the physical integrity of IEW staff or badociations, are taken very seriously" and management has decided to file a complaint.
Inter-Environnement Wallonie had pointed directly to the "total" responsibility of hunters in the risk of spreading the epidemic of African plague. This position obviously did not please everyone. In the first mail, there is a picture of a hunter aiming with his rifle. The second contains an illustration of individuals wearing pig masks around a table. The recipients are warned: "You have won today, but tomorrow the luck and the influences will change hands! You are tidy, do not bother us! Re-make yourself, before it's late …"
To these threats was badociated, "for one of the two letters, an article published in the official journal of the National Federation of hunters of France, gargling the political successes garnered by the hunters to the President of the French Republic", explains IEW. "A demonstration of strength that does not in any way detract from the determination of the environmental movement to pursue the defense of biodiversity, nature and harmonious cohabitation between forest and agriculture."
Tomorrow / Wednesday, an event organized by the Walloon Federation of Agriculture (FWA), supported in particular by IEW, will ask the Walloon Minister of Agriculture, René Collin, "to take strong measures to drastically reduce densities of wild boar" , says the organization again.
