Belgium
If the event is canceled, a mobilization remains on the agenda.
How many "yellow vests" will be counted Friday in the streets of the capital? Mystery. Gary Ducran, the "yellow vest" who had engaged a consultation with the police in Brussels for the event planned in the capital runs as best as possible, finally announced Monday night that it was canceled. Because it was impossible to comply with the requirements of the security services: a "steward" for 50 participants. "We had underestimated this aspect, we believed that the police would take care of everything, we are also working together in small groups to build a united and solid movement.Gary Ducran explains. Flanders has joined us. We are trying to get together with the same demands. "
Furious "posts"
But if the "legal manifestation" is postponed to a date that has not yet been fixed, a mobilization is maintained in the streets of the capital. The shade ? The affluence of the protesters will be neither organized nor framed, but the slogan of rallying Brussels is still relevant on the different Facebook groups (Brussels, Wandre, Feluy, Charleroi, La Louvière, Luxembourg …) who express their fed up with the price increase affecting petroleum products and hit hard their purchasing power.
The official cancellation of the procession that was to leave Cinquantenaire Park, at 1 pm, in the direction of rue de la Loi, sparked furious "posts" on Facebook. "With you or without you, we will go to the end, warns a "yellow vest", particularly rebadembled. We did not do that, at the last moment, cancel everything. "
Some blame Gary Ducran out loud for "grab the trick" ; others taking the defense of the one who "wants to avoid the mess like in Charleroi" or who has "just tried to coordinate things for […] not that we come to Paris like this ".
The person concerned denies wanting to control or represent the movement of "yellow vests": "There is no spokesperson, no delegates".
This "leader empowered to speak on behalf of all" anger due to the ends of difficult months, before tax inequalities, "against elected officials who do not want to hear anything", does not exist: reads in a message that circulates on Facebook: "Every yellow vest is his own spokesperson."
There is no permission to ask for this anger, they say: "We are the people and, as such, the Rue de la Loi belongs to us: you are the tenant
(the "you" designating the Prime Minister Charles Michel, NdlR)
On Friday, there will be a "spontaneous" gathering in the capital, without an "official" organizer. Mbadive? "We know there will be people", prognosis Gary Ducran. The different Facebook groups total nearly 10,000 members on the French side.
Dire agents in Flanders
Since Monday, the movement of "yellow vests" also touches Flanders. Thirty protesters against rising fuel prices gathered in the evening in the center of Genk; two more rallies were planned Tuesday in Hbadelt and Herentals.
In less than a week, the closed group "Leg Vlaanderen plat" ("Put Flanders off") attracted nearly 9,200 members! The initiator is a certain Marko Kleijn, a Dutchman who has been living in Genk for about ten years.
A personality for the least troubled sympathizer Vlaams Belang and extreme right movements as Pegida (anti-immigrants) and … Schild en Vrienden.
If he takes care not to publish personal opinions on his Facebook page, Marko Kleijn does not hesitate to relay the messages of Dries Van Langenhove, the leader of the neo-Nazi group which was at the heart of a report of the VRT and against which an instruction is open to the public prosecutor of Ghent. In Flanders, the extreme right is clearly trying to recover the movement of freeze hesjes.
