What role does general practitioners play in cancer prevention and screening in France? An investigation conducted by the Rencontres de la onérologie Française and the magazine le Généraliste in partnership with the College of General Medicine reveals that "90% of them consider that their role in cancer prevention is not sufficiently valued. "60% believe that" this is due to the lack of mission clearly dedicated to the treating doctors by the public authorities ".

Yet positioned at the forefront of the medical system, GPs are best placed to prevent and detect the first signs of cancer. Their pre-diagnosis is vital in early diagnosis and therefore, increased chances of survival. The involvement of GPs in prevention and screening

According to the survey results, 81% of them are "in favor of vaccination against human papillomavirus infections (53% do not want it to be mandatory) and 61% would like that vaccination be offered to all boys ". 79% suggest self-examination of women in bad cancer screening and 75% even practice bad palpation in a systematic way.

Regarding cervical cancer, 54% consider that organized screening will change the practice if the device involves them more 52% think that the 25-year prevention consultation will help increase participation in screening.

"95% doctors encourage their patients to perform the immunological screening test for colon cancer. 33% are systematically concerned about the serological status of their patients with respect to hepatitis B and 55% only with their at-risk patient ". Finally, GPs are particularly attentive to environmental or behavioral factors that can promote the development of cancer such as tobacco, alcohol consumption and overweight.
