How the CGSP-Education shakes the school environment

The CGSP-Teaching puts water in the gas of the Pact of Excellence and thrills the world of school

The reform of the Pact of Excellence, as vast as it is, is subject to a decision: the fact that the official network of the French Community no longer depends on the Minister of Education and its administration, but that it be independent, like other networks. Today, the minister regulates these networks, while organizing her own. While the steering of the school system will be reviewed, the various education stakeholders want to end this status that makes the minister both judge and party.

So far everything was going pretty well. The text in question, which will have to receive the badent of the MR (because it requires a two-thirds vote), received the approval of the actors of the Pact. This Wednesday, however, Joseph Thonon, president of the CGSP-Teaching, said in The evening that his executive board had finally rejected the decree in preparation that the official network receives the status of a public interest organization (PIO). For the CGSP, the text suggests a very complex structure that will disempower the policy, and will not improve the quality of formal education.

This exit worries other actors in the Pact who see this change as a condition sine qua non for the implementation of the whole reform. President of the Teaching Foundation which intends to build bridges between the school and the business world, Luc Willame judges that the CGSP plays a very dangerous game, both for the Pact and for the official education which had, with this reform, the opportunity to be managed by an organization appropriate to the challenges it encounters. While the Minister is delaying this exit, the text will return in January on the benches of Parliament.
