The Bosnian Football Federation (FF BH) published a statement on its website on Thursday condemning the behavior of Anderlecht defender Ognjen Vranjes.
The Bosnian international of the RSCA sports many tattoos, one of which refers to fascism, specifically to Momcilo Dujic, a Yugoslav warlord who collaborated with the Nazis during the Second World War.
Ognjen Vranjes, a former AEK Athens player, was also talked about this week by posting on Instagram a photo wishing "welcome to HellAjax Amsterdam fans, who faced AEK Athens in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday in a match marked by several incidents, the player subsequently deleted his publication.
"We firmly and unreservedly condemn the shocking behavior of Ognjen Vranjes, because his messages, whatever their expression, are not in the spirit of the values defended by the federation and do not represent the spirit of a true sportsman who should be a model for young people. Vranjes' fighting spirit and attitude on the pitch are unquestionable, but his off-court behavior is not acceptable.
The federation unequivocally condemns all forms of glorification of fascism and its supporters, which affect not only the national team but the entire country. The priority of every athlete should be the fight against racism, discrimination, violence and hate speech".
Ognjen Vranjes, 29, has 38 national team selections in Bosnia. He arrived in Anderlecht this summer from AEK Athens.
