Officially unveiled by press release yesterday, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 gets a more tractable version of the engine that is found in the 911 GT3, a flat six-liter 3.8 liter that develops 425 horsepower and 313 lb. ft of torque. It also gets the front suspension and steering wheel of the 911 GT3 R in addition to a six-speed PDK gearbox.
Porsche has also innovated in terms of construction to give this 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport lightness and strength. It is claimed by the manufacturer to have used unique materials in the composition of body panels, biological materials such as flax fiber and hemp. According to Porsche, these materials have properties similar to carbon fiber when paired.
On the scale, the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport weighs 2910 lbs, even with the roll bar and air conditioning. Two variants are offered: the "Track Day" variant, which comes with a fixed suspension (not adjustable) and an 80-liter fuel tank. Buyers can also opt for the "Competition" variant, which is equipped with an adjustable suspension, hydraulic cylinders at the four corners and a 115-liter fuel tank.
