A hoax on Twitter blocks accounts

[ad_1]

This is a joke that has unfortunately trapped a few thousand people who currently circulates on the Twitter network and takes advantage of the ignorance of the rules of the network to make victims. They publish tweets in which they claim that changing their date of birth to 2007 allows to obtain new colors, administrator privileges or a certified account.

However, to have a Twitter account, it must be at least 13 years old, the platform therefore operates the blocking of the account in question and it becomes complex to recover access.

Twitter users who believed in the hoax, and who accidentally blocked their account, can follow the reset instructions in the email sent by Twitter. Result: The account is automatically blocked.

"We noticed a hoax that was trying to get users to change their birthday in 2017 in order to, supposedly, unlock new colors," says Twitter support. They promise then that "hidden" features could be triggered. Or, fill out an online form available on the social network.

Without giving any exact figures, the joke has grown to the point that Twitter is communicating on the subject, asking its users to "do not do this, you will simply be disconnected from the network because you will be under 13 years old".

The process is relatively intrusive, so if you are not thrilled to send such a document to Twitter, you will have no other solution than to create a new account.
