Flames and thick smoke gushed from a house on Rue du Roitelet in the Tuquet district at around 4:15 am on Friday morning. Firefighters were still there around 7 am

The emergency services of Wallonia Picardie were alerted Friday, shortly after 4am, a fire broke out in a house located at No. 21 rue du Roitelet in Mouscron.

"This is a block of four row houses whose roofs communicate," said shortly after 6am, the commander of the Wapi emergency area Olivier Lowagie. "These houses consist of a ground floor and an attic floor. Two of the homes were totally destroyed and a third was heavily impacted. We managed to preserve the fourth house. "

The occupants of the four houses, which are safe and sound, have been grouped together in the Hive. Three dogs are injured, however. The occupant of one of the houses tried to extract them from the house but without success. The three dogs are dead.

"The communal intervention plan has been triggered and these people will be supported by the social services. Eight people are to be relocated, "said the officer.

The mayor of Mouscron, Brigitte Aubert (cdH), is on site. The causes of this fire are unknown for the moment.
