The civil court in Liège on Tuesday condemned a dissatisfied customer of Seraing Quick who had broadcast on Facebook comments not proven and denigrating with respect to this fast food. As a reminder, on March 12, 2017, Michel Musial, from Seraing, posted a video on his Facebook profile in which he explained that he had found a food moth larva in his fries.
After a visit to Seraing Quick's drive-in, his daughter, back at home, had discovered a food moth larva, whose origin was unknown, in her fries. The video with the maggot had made the buzz. She had been consulted 132,000 times in three days and then it was withdrawn at the request of the manager of Quick, who formally challenged the origin of the maggot found in the food.
The shopkeeper had then estimated to have been the victim of a campaign of libel and to have lost 30 to 40% of its turnover. She attacked the client in court, claiming damages of 10,000 euros.
As we announced on Tuesday, the dissatisfied customer was ordered to pay the manager of the Quick the sum of € 1,000 for damages and interest and procedural costs for an amount of about 800 euros.
