On November 28, the industry recalled Achva and S & F brand tahini products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The affected products should not be consumed.
The following products have been sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec and may have been distributed in other provinces.

If you think you have been sick after consuming a recalled product, contact your doctor. It is recommended that the products affected by this recall be discarded or returned to the store where they were purchased.
Foods contaminated with Salmonella do not necessarily have visible discolouration or a suspicious smell, but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems can develop serious and sometimes fatal infections. In healthy people, salmonellosis may manifest as short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Salmonellosis can lead to long-term complications, including severe form of arthritis.
Cases of illness badociated with the consumption of these products have been reported.
