Mons

The roadway was closed in both directions.

Terrible accident this Tuesday morning, around 8 o'clock, on the N51 which connects Boussu to Quiévrain. Two vehicles that came from Boussu found themselves in the scenery between Thulin and Hainin, not far from the crossroads of the Saint-Man. One of the two cars ended up in a tree, the other in a concrete stake.

Despite the quick intervention of the Quiévrain emergency services, one of the two drivers, a 62-year-old Frenchman, died on the spot. The other was taken care of by paramedics. But his condition would be very disturbing.

According to our information, it is the pbading of one of the two drivers that would have caused the tragedy. For some unknown reason, the two cars would have collided. The first then crashed into a vehicle parked on the side before finishing her race in a tree. The other motorist would also have lost control before violently striking a concrete pole.

But the more precise circumstances will have to be determined. The floor of Mons should go down in the morning. "Another tragedy on this road that has already known too much"commented Eric Thiébaut (PS), the mayor of Hensies. "It seems that excessive speed is still involved …"

The accident obviously required the closure of the roadway at this location. A local deviation has been set up.
