Last edition on the website of Coronmeuse in Liège
While we have long been talking about the possible last edition of the Ardentes on the site of Coronmeuse, it is now a certainty. The 2019 edition (July 4 to 7) of the festival will be the last in this place, we learned Thursday with the organization while the first names were unveiled.
The festival Les Ardentes will not be able, beyond 2019, to take place on the site of Coronmeuse because of the project of eco-district which will be implemented there. Indeed, the start of work is announced for September 2019, just after the next edition.
This eco-neighborhood will include some 1,300 homes as well as various functions. Last June, the Walloon government approved the construction of new exhibition halls, which will migrate from Coronmeuse to Bressoux, thus giving impetus to this important eco-neighborhood project in Liège.
The Ardentes must therefore find refuge elsewhere for 2020. "Several avenues are considered," says one side of the organization. If the priority is to keep the festival on the territory of the city of Liège, we do not exclude the possibility of setting it up outside Liège, on a site of a neighboring commune that would meet the requirements related to the organization of such an event.
