Former RTBF Deputy Director General Robert Wangermée is dead, announces Monday evening the French-speaking public service. The man, who was also a musicologist, was 98 years old. A great lover of music, Robert Wangermée entered the INR, the ancestor of RTBF, in 1946. He was director of the music service in 1953, created the third radio program, specialized in clbadical music, which is became Musiq3, and establishes the live broadcast of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, recalls the public service.
He then became administrator-general from 1960 to the end of 1984, before taking the presidency of the Higher Audiovisual Council (CSA) and the Conseil de la Musique.
His musical legacy continues today through Musiq3, "which continues to offer fans, enthusiasts a rich musical programming and to make accessible the musical universe to the uninitiated", still pays tribute to RTBF.
Robert Wangermée was chosen as one of the hundred Walloons of the century by the Jules Destrée Institute in 1995. He "devoted his life to the public service media, for which he has always defended independence.
