For years, despite the help of a psychiatrist, this young woman is unable to get rid of his malaise. Since July, she enjoys an experimentation: a psychotherapy in office, supported by the Social Security. Of the 21 sessions, the first 11 are € 22 and the next € 32, all supported. Usually, a session costs on average 50 € and is not reimbursed, except in the hospital setting. These sessions are prescribed by a general practitioner and are intended for adults with mild to moderate depression. The goal is to avoid aggravation of their mental disorders.
"I'm getting people from 18 to 60 years old (…), people who work, people who are unemployed, people who feel bad about themselves, people who have problems at work … " enumerates Charline Thouvenin, psychotherapist. According to many scientific studies, for mild depression, psychological counseling is at least as effective as drugs. This experiment, which is taking place in Haute-Garonne, Morbihan, Bouches-du-Rhône and Landes, will be evaluated in three years and could be generalized. Refunded psychotherapy would be much cheaper for Social Security than hospitalization for depression.
