Currently, the health authorities consider that the vast majority of French born before 1980 had measles, and so developed immunity against this highly contagious disease. As the MMR vaccine was introduced in France in 1983, the health authorities call people born after 1980 to check in their health record that they received the two doses of MMR vaccine and to be vaccinated if this is not the case.
According to the figures communicated by the ARS of New Aquitaine, the most affected region of France, 1,096 cases of measles have been confirmed since November 6 ( 2,567 cases throughout France), with 1 in 4 cases requiring hospitalization and 12 persons transferred to intensive care
